The logo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Explorer Academy was created by Sergeant Roller.  The logo is blue with gold trim, similar to the badge worn by LASD deputies.  The torch in the center symbolizes enlightenment through education and training.  On the torch, the LASD Explorer badge is prominently displayed.   Also appearing on the torch in Roman Numerals is “1969”, which is the year that the LASD Explorer Academy began. In the background is the rising sun, symbolizing the start of each new Explorer Academy class.

The Explorer Academy logo is proudly displayed on the exterior of the primary classroom at STARS Center, and is worn in the form of a lapel pin, on the shirt pocket of each Explorer Academy staff member.
