Weekly Notebook Instructions

Each week, recruits are expected to take thorough notes during training lectures and demonstrations. These notes must be re-written in “outline format” and submitted at the beginning of each Saturday for review and grading. Weekly notebook grades are counted toward the recruit’s overall grade point average (GPA).

Notebook BinderRecruits missing lectures due to absences are required to make up those notes and submit them upon returning to the explorer academy.

Weekly notebooks are cumulative. This means that the notes are added week-to-week as the notebook gets larger. Each subject will be separated by tab dividers, and placed into the notebook in sequential order, beginning with the first lecture and ending with the final lecture.

Each new recruit will be provided with a weekly notebook coversheet. The coversheet will document the submission of each week’s notes, the grade received, and indicate which staff member graded that particular week’s notes.

Table of Contents Page

Notebook PaperThe next page in the weekly notebook will be a table of contents page. This page is to be completed by the recruit. As with all written assignments, the table of contents page, and all notes submitted in the weekly notebook, shall be hand-written, using all capital letters, in pencil, and on College Ruled notebook paper. The table of contents page must have the standard heading in the upper right hand corner, like so:
