IMPORTANT MESSAGE REGARDING ABSENCES: (READ THIS)

The number of recruits being absent is becoming excessive.

Every day that a recruit is absent, they miss out on 10 hours of training, activities, physical training, lectures, etc.   Simply choosing to be absent, then make up the homework assignments is NOT how this program is designed to work.  An occasional absent by an occasional recruit is expected, but the current trend is unacceptable.  At six weeks, some recruits already have 2 absences.

Further, effective November 4th (This Week), any recruit who is absent will have 25% of their homework points deducted for being late.

The class is now put on notice, that if they plan on remaining in this program and graduating in January, they had better start showing up EVERY WEEK.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT MAKE-UP WORK: (READ THIS)

ALL recruits start this program with the SAME opportunity to succeed.  After that, it is up to the individual recruit to follow directions, show up and do their work.   If a recruit CHOOSES not to do so, no exceptions will be made for them.  To do so would be unfair to the recruits who are trying hard and are turning in all required work.

It has been brought to Sgt. Roller’s attention that some recruits may have been told that they would be able to make-up homework assignments that they have already failed to turn in when they were due.  Or, that some recruits may re-take radio code or spelling tests from weeks in the past.

THIS INFORMATION IS NOT TRUE.  The RTM clearly explains how the academic portion of the explorer academy works.  IF you are absent, you can turn in homework that you missed – on the Saturday that you return – not sometime in the future.  Weekly testing may ONLY be made up the week after you were absent – or – the week after you took the test, IF you wish to try for a higher score.

There is no such thing as EXTRA CREDIT WORK in this program.

If you were informed otherwise, perhaps by a staff member or heard something from a classmate that is different from what is listed here, disregard it.
